The Match Play Bracket in Tournament Manager allows players to view matches and track their progress through the bracket. The bracket is fully manual, meaning match results are not automatically updated. Instead, players report their results to the office/admin, who then manually advances the winners in the bracket.
Creating the Bracket
You can create a new match play bracket in the Tour & Ranking section.
- Select "Match Play Bracket", "Create New" and fill out the settings in the form that appears.

Adding Players, Editing the Public View, and Advancing Winners
Player Registration
- Create a tournament in Tournament Manager, such as a stroke play event.
- Create a competition page for this tournament and open registration.
- Do not publish a start list for this competition! This competition is only used for player registration, so the players can then be copied into the match play bracket.
Adding Players
- Copy the players registered in the Tournament Manager competition into the bracket’s player pool.
- Add individual players manually if needed.
All players in the bracket are listed by name only and are not linked to their Golf GameBook profiles. For example, handicaps must be manually updated by editing the numbers directly.
Once players are added to the Player Pool, you can move all players to the first round at once. Note: This action cannot be undone!
It is possible to add more players after the first round, but players already assigned to the first round cannot be removed without deleting the player's entry.
Editing the Public View
-
You can edit each player at any stage of the bracket by tapping the pen icon. Editable fields include:
- Name: It is a text field, and you can include additional information like a home club or company.
- Handicap field can be left blank if using dynamic, real-time handicaps during the tournament.
- Result: Once a match is played, enter the result here. If the field is left blank, advancing the player means they won the match.
- Mark the winner by enabling the winner toggle.
-
You can add dates and courses for each round under the round title. Once a round is completed, and all winners have advanced, you can hide that round to keep the view clear, especially for larger tournaments.
To restore a hidden round, scroll left through the header row and click the down arrow next to the round title. -
The language selected in the Admin View will also apply to the Public View, so the bracket will be displayed in the language chosen by the admin.
